Actor Gino Rivieccio has won the "Dino Verde" section of the "Penisola Sorrentina" national award for his 40-year career spanning Mediaset, Rai, and numerous theater productions. His forty years of performing are being celebrated with a special award from the "Penisola Sorrentina" award, the twenty-fourth edition of which will take place on October 26th at the Teatro delle Rose in Piano di Sorrento.
Gino Rivieccio celebrates in a special way his forty years of professional experience in the entertainment industry, which began in 1979 when he joined the company of the Teatro Stabile Sannazzaro in Naples, alongside Nino Taranto, Luisa Conte and Pietro De Vico.
Then, with the victory at the Loano cabaret festival, he entered the national scene by participating alongside Paolo Villaggio and Carmen Russo in the program “Un Fantastico tragico Venerdì”, broadcast on Rete 4.
From 87 to 89 he hosted a morning game show on Canale 5 for three editions, “Cantando Cantando” with the participation of Little Tony, Bobby Solo and Rosanna Fratello. During the summer months Marino Bartoletti gave him a comic slot in the Italia 1 show “Calcio d'Estate”. The following year, again on Canale 5, he hosted the game show “Casa mia” together with Lino Toffolo
In 1991 he moved to RAI where, together with Mita Medici and Osvaldo Bevilacqua, he starred in Sereno Variabile. The following year he presented “il Cantagiro” on Rai 2 with Mara Venier and Fiorello. In that same year, with the show “Spasso Carrabile” he won the Biglietto d'oro dell'Agis.
And in 1993 Dino Verde chose him as the protagonist of the re-edition of the historic “Scanzonatissimo”, which rematerializes his great love for the Theater. The show, which has Brigitta Boccoli as co-star, is reprised in the following season with the title “Scanzonatissimo Gran Casinò”. This time with the participation of Sabina Stilo and the choreography of Don Lurio.
And the special section of the “Penisola Sorrentina” Award is named after Dino Verde, which in recent years has seen Lino Banfi, Pippo Baudo, Leo Gullotta, Giancarlo Magalli, and Maurizio Micheli awarded.
“We are particularly happy to award the Dino Verde prize to a man and an actor who has always preserved the value of humility and the essence of culture,” says Mario Esposito, patron of the Prize.
“There are many titles in his production, but the background soundtrack of his life and his stage remains his love for Naples. A carnal love, tattooed in his soul,” the patron continues.
Rivieccio worked closely with Dino Verde and his son, Gustavo, who is still his author today.
He performed in “Sarto per signora” by George Feydeau with Luciana Turina and directed by Vito Molinari. He shared the 2008 season with Vittorio Marsiglia in a variety show written by Rivieccio with Gustavo Verde, entitled “Non complicachiamoci la vita”. In 2009 he proposed the one-man show genre again with the Minale big band entitled “Quanno ce vò ce vò”.
In the same period he proposes for the first time, a box set that collects the best of his 30-year career. Alongside Corinne Clery he brought to the stage a classic comedy: “Il padre della sposa” directed by Marco Parodi and with music by Peppino di Capri. In 2012 he signed together with de Giovanni and Verde “La pazienza diversata”, an ironic portrait of the historical moment of the Neapolitans. In the 2013-2013 season he brought to the stage “Faccio progetti per il passato” a musical comedy written together with Gustavo Verde and Gianni Puca.
Then he was the protagonist of a very funny work written by Stefano Sarcinelli and Peppe Quintale: “Ti presento mio fratello”. Last season and for the second consecutive year he brought to the stage “Io e Napoli”, an act of love towards his city full of emotions and irony, grace, lightness and reflections. All supported by the music and arrangements of Maestro Antonello Cascone. Last season he reprised the English comedy “Mamma ieri mi sposa“ in the company of Sandra Milo and Marina Suma and proposed his one man show Cavalli di ritorno.
These are just some of the highlights of these forty years of life and entertainment, now sealed by a special award.
An award that adds to the success of the artistic direction of the Massimo Troisi Award, awarded to him this summer by the City of San Giorgio a Cremano.
“I will be happy to be at the Teatro delle Rose in Piano di Sorrento to celebrate, together with the other important award winners and guests of the Premio Penisola Sorrentina, my love for this profession,” declares Rivieccio.
“Yes, you have to love this job. Doing this job just to become famous is like quenching your thirst with grappa. You have to embrace this profession to communicate emotions, thoughts, smiles to others. As maestro Dino Verde taught me, doing it just for the pleasure of going on stage without having anything to say is like getting on a plane just to get free peanuts,” concludes the actor.
