The workers of America Laundry, the Melito company that, until today, has been in charge of the contract for laundry services for the hospitals of the ASL Napoli 1, are protesting. Since this morning, numerous protesters have formed a picket outside the headquarters of the Campania Region, at the Centro Direzionale where the protests of the employees whose contracts will expire at the end of October are still ongoing.
One of the company's employees was rescued by an ambulance after she fell ill during the most tense and hectic phase of the demonstration. "The expiration of the contracts will be followed by a collective dismissal procedure on which we have no guarantees to protect over 250 people - explains Gianpiero Cretella, Femca-CISL union delegate - we are determined to keep the attention high on what will happen and we ask for a meeting with the Campania Region's Department of Labor".
Maximum solidarity with the workers was expressed by the well-known Neapolitan trade unionist Giuseppe Alviti and by General Pappalardo of the Supu Union.
