The sixth edition of "Ricomincio dai Libri" will be presented on Wednesday, September 25th (at 11:00 a.m.) at Spazio Nea, Via Santa Maria di Costantinopoli 53, Naples. This year's event will be held in the splendid setting of the Foqus Foundation, a shining example of urban regeneration in the heart of the Spanish Quarter. As with all previous editions, this year's "Ricomincio dai Libri" will be free. The program will be revealed at the press conference. This year's theme is "Let's Take Care of Ourselves," and the artistic director will again be Neapolitan writer Lorenzo Marone. "Never before in this historical and political moment has the word 'care' taken on such a universal meaning that each of us, in our own small way, must export. Care for our increasingly exploited planet," Marone declares, "care for others, for strangers, for those in need, for the least fortunate, care for ourselves, for the ever-stronger development of the individual, care for institutions (sometimes mocked by our own politicians) and for the sense of state, for culture, for science, and for knowledge."
“Three days of meetings – concludes Marone – in a complex neighborhood of Naples, to do this: to put at the center of the discussion the moral obligation we have to reach out. Today more than yesterday”. Also this year the beating heart of Ricomincio dai Libri are the associations. “Words, reading, culture are important weapons to take care of oneself, others and the surrounding area – explains the Councilor for Social Policies Roberta Gaeta – and it is important to support every project that speaks to the kids and makes them discover a world made of positive values, humanity and regeneration. Ricomincio dai Libri represents exactly this, it is a significant opportunity to strengthen the multiple expressions of active citizenship at the service of the local community, to encourage the development of stable networks between associations and support new practices of territorial diffusion". After the Mann, the National Archaeological Museum, which successfully hosted the last edition, the organizers are relaunching with a new location, in the heart of the Spanish Quarters: the Foqus Foundation, chaired by Rachele Furfaro. "Ricomincio dai libri is the first large fair to be held at Foqus - says president Furfaro -, which from today demonstrates that it can and knows how to welcome and organize complex events and initiatives in its spaces, thus becoming a new space for events for Naples, in the heart of the city. We will host authors, books, publishers, the public, in a space where every day, every day of the year, reading, imagination and storytelling are an essential part of our community educational project. For this reason I can say that Foqus and the Spanish Quarters greet the authors who will dialogue here with the public, as one greets and finds a friend again". The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Naples and the Ministry of the Environment.
The president of the Ricomincio dai Libri association explains the reason that links the theme of the environment to that of culture: “People often talk about the books they are reading as a daily “treat” or the time they spend reading as a moment they dedicate only to themselves – says Deborah Divertito, president of the Ricomincio dai Libri association –. The stories that books tell us have a power and a potential that we don’t even imagine, and they can be the cure for the distortions that we are experiencing in this historical moment and not only in our country. Hence, the sensitivity of many of us organizers towards environmental issues, towards what we are doing to our planet, towards how little we do and how much we should do instead. And it is inevitable that this sensitivity also translates into care for relationships with others, towards our emotions and towards ourselves as individuals and as a community. It seemed absolutely in line with what we also feel are our needs”. A tribute to the writer and philosopher Luciano De Crescenzo, who passed away last July, could not be missed. The rooms will be named after the characters and residents of the film “Così parlò Bellavista” and on Saturday 5 October there will be a meeting dedicated to De Crescenzo curated by Pino Imperatore who will be present at the press conference.
