Scafati. Michele Grimaldi, leader of the Democrats and Progressives and secretary of the Scafati Democratic Party, launched a blistering attack on Mayor Cristofoto Salvati and his majority. Grimaldi criticized the failure to resign of Councilor Di Massa, who was under investigation and was the most voted for. He also criticized the waste emergency and a series of measures enacted by the majority. "To recap," Grimaldi wrote, "the most voted councilor from the Mayor's party ends up implicated in a corruption investigation. The Mayor claims he knows nothing, and together with his majority, he calls for the councilor's resignation (but leaves the two councilors appointed by the councilor in their places), and writes to the Prefect of Salerno. Naturally, the whole thing is announced and discussed only in majority meetings and on the Mayor's Facebook profile. A few months pass, and the Mayor himself announces to the press the councilor's return to the majority, in light of the responses received.
We ask to read these answers, but the general secretary informs us that the Prefect has not said a word on the matter. We are therefore faced with a dangerous intersection of bad faith, charlatanism and a proprietary and private conception of public affairs”. Then Grimaldi touches on the delicate issue of the waste emergency in the city: “In the meantime, in via GB Casciello - Grimaldi explains - there is a landfill that is not clear, authorised by whom and with what guarantees for the health of citizens and workers in the Ex-Copmes industrial area, Helios continues to work undisturbed without the Mayor having written to the competent Judge as per resolution of the City Council, the streets continue to be invaded by piles of waste, an Ecobaratto project is starting, it is not clear approved by whom and with what methods. Not to mention the tenders, the direct assignments, the August assignments to party friends and the sponsorships without resolutions and all the rest. They wanted to go further, - concludes Grimaldi - and it must be said, in all honesty, they are managing to go very well beyond decency".
The Coordinator of the Five Star Movement in the province of Salerno, speaking on the sidelines of the agreement reached, said: "Yes to a camp of all progressive left-wing forces in view of the local elections." "With strength and determination since day one, the Five Star Movement has committed itself in Scafati to building a broad and progressive camp…
"The Democratic Party nominates Michele Grimaldi as mayoral candidate for the city of Scafati," the statement reads. The decision was made following the city council meeting held last night, attended by Provincial Secretary Vincenzo Luciano. The Democratic Party, in all its branches, will guarantee its full support...
"Intolerable conditions in the gym of the Pisacane complex on Via Corbisiero. The issue is known to the Mayor and the Council, because it has been reported several times but no one is intervening."
