The twenty-four-year-old driver of a Mazda 1,30 had a blood alcohol level of 3, almost three times the legal limit, when he lost control of his car at 2 am and crashed into a plane tree on Via Cento in Vigarano Mainarda in the province of Ferrara. This is what emerged from the investigations carried out on site by the Ferrara Carabinieri, who intervened together with the firefighters after a driver reported the incident. Injured in red code, but still conscious, the boy was drunk: this, together with the high speed and the wet asphalt, made him go off the road for the first time and then crash into the tree once he managed to get back into the lane. The three friends who were with him, aged 21, 23 and 28, all colleagues in a supermarket in the Ferrara area, died instantly, trapped in the wreckage from which the firefighters freed them after hours.
