According to the investigation documents coordinated by the Potenza Public Prosecutor's Office, she obtained disability status and the benefits of the attendance allowance "by feigning serious illnesses," preliminary investigations judge Lucio Setola wrote in his order, "that rendered her incapable of independently attending to daily activities without continuous assistance." In 2017, the woman was "accompanied by her husband and transported in a wheelchair" to the Potenza Courthouse "because she was unable to walk independently" and "at the time of the clinical examination, she demonstrated her inability to provide for her basic needs and perform daily activities without assistance," "thus misleading" the expert appointed by the civil court judge. According to investigators, however, "the wheelchair visit was clearly a setup."
