Today, the agents of the Flying Squad of the Naples Police Headquarters and the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Castello di Cisterna executed a custodial order issued, within the scope of the investigations carried out by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, by the GIP of the Court of Naples against PUZIO Michele, already convicted in the first instance for his role as an affiliate of the Moccia clan of Afragola, as he is seriously suspected of the crime of complicity in the murder to the detriment of CAPONE Immacolata, which occurred in Sant'Antimo on 17 March 2004, aggravated by the purpose of facilitating a Camorra-style association and related crimes relating to the carrying of weapons.
At the time, the victim was working as an entrepreneur in the earthmoving sector in the municipalities of Casoria and Afragola.
During the course of her business activity, CAPONE had assumed the role of trustee of the economic interests of the MOCCIA clan, not disdaining to establish, in the period preceding the murder, economic relationships with other Camorra organizations.
According to the prosecution's reconstruction, the murder is attributable to the MOCCIA clan's desire to "punish" the woman, because she was considered the instigator of the murder of her husband SALIERNO Giorgio, who in turn was a trustee of the organization's top management, and in order to prevent the strengthening of economic ties between the business activity headed by CAPONE and clans other than the MOCCIA clan.
The role of killer PUZIO Michele, which emerged during the investigations, is also confirmed by the results of the scientific investigations.
During the frantic phases of the murder, characterized by a desperate attempt by the victim to escape inside a commercial establishment, the killer had in fact lost a cap that he was wearing at the time of the execution and which had been seized in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene.
After many years, and also thanks to the progress of the ascertainment methodologies, the presence of PUZIO's DNA on several points of the hat has emerged, following scientific investigations conducted in cross-examination with the defense and the consultant of the accused.
Investigations were also carried out into the existence of a potential alibi in favour of the suspect, which was denied by the investigations specifically carried out on this matter.
