“Geographical education and cultural heritage. Cultural, environmental and landscape assets between
discovery, protection and valorization". This is the theme around which, from 3 to 6 October, at the Hotel
Mediterranea and the nearby Chamber of Commerce, 200 geographers will meet in Salerno
coming from all over Italy, on the occasion of the 62nd national convention of the Italian Association
Geography Teachers (AIIG), who this year chose Campania as a launching pad
for a comparison between geography, politics and civil society.
The conference, divided into scientific reports, workshops and field trips, follows a
research-teaching approach in line with the aims of the AIIG, founded in 1954 by Elio Migliorini
as a local culture company for the promotion of scientific initiatives and
informative, with the involvement of teachers, students, local actors and civil society.
Sponsored by the Municipality of Salerno, the Chamber of Commerce, the Society of National History
Salernitana and from all the main national geographical assemblies, with the contribution of the University
of Salerno Studies (Department of Humanistic Studies and Department of Human, Philosophical and Social Sciences)
Training) and UniPegaso, the conference will address the various issues of cultural heritage
putting geographers, art historians, archaeologists, historians and school teachers in direct contact
as well as representatives of civil society, represented this year by the Campania association Maestri
di strada onlus, a direct expression of the territories in which the initiative takes place.
