'Antonio Coppola a noble artist', Art History conference in Avellino

On Sunday, October 27, at 18.00:6 p.m., the Art History conference "Antonio Coppola: A Noble Artist" will be held in the hall of the Avellino Press Club (Prefecture), located at Corso Vittorio Emanuele XNUMX. The cultural event is promoted by the "Friends of the MdAO" cultural club, in collaboration with the ACO Cultural Association and the MdAO - Art Museum. Speakers include Professor Angelo Cutolo, Maestro Francesco Roselli, Doctor Antonio Carpentieri, Priest Don Gerardo Capaldo, and the lawyer Count Francesco Paolo Coppola. Doctor Pasquale Luca Nacca (FB group Artisti Irpini) will present the "Biography of a Noble Artist." Professor Stefano Orga (art critic) will conclude with a presentation on "The Art of Count Antonio Coppola."
The presentation is moderated by Dr. Stefania Marotti (journalist).
On the occasion of the cultural event, the painting by Antonio Coppola (1839-1923) “Gulf of Naples Fishermen” from 1876 will be presented, kindly lent to us for the conference.
Antonio Coppola was born in Naples on January 24, 1839 to Count Filippo Coppola and Giuseppa Baccari. From an early age he was attracted to drawing and art, showing strong qualities. So much so that his father enrolled him at the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Naples.
After completing his studies, Antonio Coppola married Giuseppa Cirillo on January 1864, XNUMX. From this marriage were born two daughters, Anna and Francesca.
He lived in Greece for two years, then moved to Bari and finally returned to Naples.
Antonio Coppola became known in artistic and aristocratic Naples for his elegance and eccentricity. In 1883 he participated in the National Exhibition in Rome, in Florence in that of the Promoter of Fine Arts, and finally in the Promoter of Fine Arts “Savator Rosa” in Naples.
Count Antonio Coppola died in Naples on November 27, 1923 and was buried in the Poggioreale Cemetery in the chapel of the Academicians of Fine Arts.
