The Italian State Police and Spanish police have captured, in Spain, a 45-year-old Italian man who was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant and who is included in Italy on the Ministry of the Interior's list of 100 fugitives of greatest concern. Officers from the Central Operations Service and the Flying Squad of the Udine Police Headquarters, coordinated by the International Police Cooperation Service, arrested Paolo Stellacci in the Spanish city of Alicante. The sentence issued on May 9 carries an 18-year prison sentence resulting from twelve convictions handed down by the courts of Udine, Verbania, Novara, La Spezia, Rome, Velletri, Trieste, and Imperia for crimes that occurred between 2005 and 2015. In the various sentences, the wanted man was charged with sexual assault, slander, embezzlement, aggravated fraud, and receiving stolen goods. The investigation into the criminal revealed that he had disappeared from Italy, having fled abroad to escape arrest. A hearing to determine the extradition procedure to Italy is scheduled for the next few days.

Naples: Queues of onlookers and evacuees line the Sannazaro Theater, destroyed by fire.

by Vincenzo Scarpa February 18, 2026 - 18:10 18:10

The day after the fire, a silence filled with disbelief reigns in front of the Sannazaro Theater. On Via Chiaia, in the heart of Naples, curious onlookers, tourists, journalists, and residents stand in a huddle, gazing at the remains of one of the city's cultural symbols, devastated by the flames.

Firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the night to quell the remaining fumaroles and secure the area. This morning, two teams are still engaged in cleanup operations, which will continue throughout the day and, most likely, into tomorrow. The goal is to eliminate any remaining sources of fire and verify the stability of the structure.
