A landfill of over 1000 mXNUMX, a real ecological bomb in an underground area in
Casalnuovo city centre, full of used tyres, car rims, manufacturing waste
buildings, abandoned vehicles, ferrous material and other types of waste. This is the scenario that the agents of the task force for the fight against the phenomenon of the so-called "Land of Fires", made up of the Control Room coordinated by the Vice Prefect Gerlando Iorio, found when they opened a secondary door of the workshop in the city center. The dirt stairs, difficult to pass due to the quantity of tires piled up, led to a sort of cavity 7 meters high and 800 square meters wide filled with waste of all kinds. The underground spaces, used as
illegal landfill, constituted a serious situation of danger for the environment and the safety of
citizens, in a densely populated area.
The agents of the inter-force group, composed of the Acerra State Police Stations
and Nola, from the Carabinieri of Castello di Cisterna and Marigliano, from the Forestry Carabinieri of
Marigliano, by the Casalnuovo Financial Police Company, by the City Police
Metropolitana, the Army and, with the support of the ARPAC inspectors, immediately
the area was seized and the owner and manager of the technical activity were reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office
Republic of Nola, directed by the Attorney Maria Antonietta Lucchetta, who follows the activities
investigative.

It also affected the areas of the municipalities of Marigliano, Somma Vesuviana, Castello di Cisterna and
Brusciano, as well as those of Calvizzano and Casavatore in collaboration with the respective Police Forces
locals.
21 patrols in the field, 54 agents involved. 14 activities checked: shoe factories,
body shops, mechanical workshops, repair shops, tyre shops, some of which were found to be without
any authorization; 11 seized for a total of 2000 square meters; 40 people checked
of which 12 reported to the Judicial Authority; 40 vehicles checked, of which 22 seized; approximately 60 thousand euros in fines issued.
Illegal waste management and disposal, unauthorised practice of the profession, emissions in
atmosphere and unauthorized discharges into sewers, environmental pollution are the crimes contested.
