A social media campaign has launched in Frattamaggiore, involving celebrities, soccer players, and ordinary citizens. It's called "Zittocancro." It all started by chance with Dykadja Paes, on a WhatsApp chat. "Ka, as we call her," explains one of the campaign's organizers, "just four months after finishing treatment for triple-negative breast cancer, she discovered she had metastases. This was what motivated her. The next day, she contacted us (Francesca, Marika, Alessia, and Simona), friends of hers through social media:
“Guys, help me get this thing rolling? What do you say?”
I started writing to everyone; friends, TV celebrities, football… absolutely everyone. Some didn’t have any problems and responded to my call, a real explosion of solidarity! Everyone was sending us photos making the silence gesture. Everyone immediately understood the meaning of all this. We have to scream to make him SILENT as I say. And here we are. I do it for Ka, but I do it for me who am still in therapy, I do it for my friends/sisters who I met during this journey, I do it for those who unfortunately are no longer here because the disease took them away. We want to scream, make a lot of noise so that this reaches further. For those people who feel alone, who are afraid to talk about the disease, do it freely! The pain, the suffering that this disease brings is enormous, but perhaps, this way it will be lighter.
The union of all of us, who shout together #zittocancro, a simple gesture can change life and bring a smile to those who suffer. Do prevention, I did it but with an incompetent doctor”.
