The Ercolano Archaeological Park continues its program of public inclusion and participation in the restoration and maintenance activities of the exceptional archaeological heritage of the ancient city. In the month of October, the public will continue to be able to watch the restorers and archaeologists at work inside the site as protagonists: the successful Friday morning “Close-Up” events will be renewed. Also for the month of October, the Park's expert staff will meet visitors at 11:00 and 11:30 to share the latest developments and the results of fieldwork to ensure ever better conservation conditions for archaeological assets. A behind-the-scenes look not to be missed.
The October program begins at the Casa dell'Albergo, but in the meantime the activities that will lead to the grand inauguration of the “Casa del Bicentenario” will continue, a house closed since the 80s that will finally be returned to use. The project, which crowns more than ten years of research and conservation activities, will be a privileged point of reference for the Close up program, for the involvement of the public in the restoration of the Park's heritage.
Meanwhile, the appointment with the ministerial initiative #iovadoalmuseo Domenica al Museo is back, and the public of the Ercolano Archaeological Park will be able to take advantage of free admission on Sunday 6 October.

by Vincenzo Scarpa January 29, 2026 - 13:45 am 13:45

A day among Roman streets, frescoed houses, and unique artifacts, without paying an admission fee. On Sunday, February 1st, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park is participating in "domenicalmuseo," the Ministry of Culture's initiative that opens state museums and archaeological parks to the public free of charge every first Sunday of the month.

For an entire day, visitors and tourists will be able to freely enter the ancient city buried by the eruption of Vesuvius, strolling along the cardini and decumani and discovering some of the site's iconic sites. These include the Boat Pavilion, which illustrates the close relationship between Herculaneum and the sea through boats and relics of maritime life, and the Antiquarium, which houses extraordinary everyday objects, such as the famous charred wood and the exquisite Herculaneum Gold.
