There will be three Napoliboxe boxers who will take part in the Italian Championships, all coming from the city's at-risk areas. A true example of how boxing can redeem kids even, and above all, in the most difficult territories, teaching healthy values and raising the name of Naples. The qualification came thanks to the two golds and two silvers that the company from Vico Sottomonte ai Ventaglieri of maestro Lino Silvestri won at the regional selections.
From Sanità come Mohamed Benaicha, who conquered the highest step of the podium in the 54kg Junior, and Ciro Cavallo, who gained access to the national finals with second place in the 46kg Schoolboys. From Poggioreale, instead, are Vincenzo Terlizzi, gold in the 81kg Youth and already called up to the national team of the category, and Vincenzo Forte, who will not be able to compete for the Italian title but took home a silver in the 57kg Junior. The national finals will take place in Montesilvano, from 25 to 27 October, for the Schoolboys category; in Rome, for the Junior category, from 8 to 10 November; in Roseto, for the Youth category, from 22 to 24 November.
"What happens in the ring is the result of the work prepared, on a competitive level, during months of hard training in the gym - explains the master Silvestri -. But it is also the culmination of a journey that allows many kids from the at-risk neighborhoods of the city to emerge from the gray areas and become protagonists of a social redemption, as well as sporting, which we often hear about but which becomes visible only when concrete results arrive. Having won four medals at the regional championships with athletes from Sanità and Poggioreale is the demonstration that in those areas there are positive energies and that sport, understood as we promote it, with daily and constant work of education and qualified preparation, is a fundamental vehicle for the growth of kids, in Naples and beyond".
