Naples. The Carabinieri of the NOE of Naples, during the activities aimed at combating environmental crimes related to the cycle of urban and special waste, have intensified checks aimed at verifying situations of environmental pollution in the stretch of coast "Vigliena-Pietrarsa" of the municipality of Naples, with particular reference to industrial loads coming from private companies.
During the checks, the NOE military personnel found that industrial wastewater from a shipyard, used in the work cycle, was being discharged into the public sewer system without authorization for discharge and without any treatment or purification. Furthermore, at the time of the check, dredging operations were underway on the seabed near the reef in front of the shipyard without any authorization from the competent authorities, with dredging mud being stored in an unauthorized area.
At the end of the investigations, the shipyard - consisting of a shed of approximately 1.000 m150 and an external yard of approximately 15 mXNUMX, together with the self-propelled crane used for dredging and the removed sludge, approximately XNUMX mXNUMX - was placed under seizure.
The managers of the activity were referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples for:
• unauthorized discharges;
• illegal waste management;
• unauthorized dredging operations and environmental pollution.
The total value of the seizure amounts to approximately 500.000,00 Euro.
