The role of the local administrator in modern public administration, e-government and digitalization, anti-corruption tools, the new rules for public contracts, and environmental assessments in current legislation. These will be some of the topics covered in the first refresher course for local public administrators, conceived and organized by Asmel, the Association for Modernization and Subsidiarity in Local Authorities, founded ten years ago by the Neapolitan Asmez Consortium and now a national reference point with over 2800 member municipalities throughout Italy. This entirely free training program is divided into twelve specialized modules, all available online, and also features weekly in-person sessions. These will take place every Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM until December 20th at Asmel's Naples headquarters in the Centro Direzionale. The courses will also be livestreamed to meet the needs of mayors throughout Italy. More than one hundred local administrators from more than ten Italian regions have already signed up, from Piedmont to Veneto, from Sicily to Trentino-Alto Adige. The inaugural event, dedicated to Institutional Communication, will take place tomorrow, Friday, October 4th, at 3:00 PM in the Mastrolia Room at the Asmel headquarters in Naples (Centro Direzionale – Isola G1), with journalist Lucia Annunziata, former president of RAI and editor of Huffington Post Italia. Following the inaugural lecture, speakers will include Ferdinando Pinto, professor of Administrative Law at the Federico II University of Naples and former mayor of Sorrento; Massimo Balducci, professor of Organization Theory at the University of Florence and member of the Scientific Committee of the European Academy of Local Government; Annalisa Martinoli, Director General of the Environment Sector of the Campania Region; former Mayor of Naples, Antonio Bassolino; Asmel President, Giovanni Caggiano; and numerous experts in innovation in local government (from crowdfunding to public-private partnerships). The full course schedule and registration form are available on the asmel.eu website. "The new challenges for the modernization of local authorities," emphasizes Asmel Secretary General Francesco Pinto, "require local administrators to develop a new training program, attentive to all the regulatory, IT, and planning innovations that have become essential for local government, especially at a time when resources are increasingly limited and skills must be increasingly leveraged. This is precisely one of the founding missions of the Asmel association."
