The “Walking Day”, promoted by FederTrek, will be held on Sunday 6 October 2019
Hiking and Environment. And for the eighth national edition, the land will be the protagonist
of Irpinia thanks to the commitment of the Pro Loco Vallesaccarda, which this year is supporting
of the practice and culture of walking, participating in the important initiative of
territorial promotion of FederTrek, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the
quality of life, involving citizens, organizations and local administrations.
Numerous local associations have joined the event, including: the Pro Loco
Castellese of Castel Baronia; The Bonfires of San Nicola Baronia; the Pro Trevico of Trevico;
the Irpinia Mia Association of Trevico; the Association of Friends of the Children of San Nicola Baronia.
The event was then sponsored by the Municipalities of Vallesaccarda, San Nicola Baronia, Castel
Baronia, Carife and Trevico.
Rich in participatory moments and particularly accurate in every detail, the
program of the day, with various routes and options in the Baronia area. The
departure is set for 8.00 on October 6th from Piazza Michele Addesa in
Vallesaccarda. The town will be crossed for about two kilometers and then immersed in the
green slopes of Trevico and reach San Nicola Baronia (first stage – route A),
with a short refreshment stop and a visit to the ancient water mill, which will be put into operation for
the opportunity. Then we will return to the woods to reach Castel Baronia (second stage –
route B), along a stretch that offers splendid panoramic views of the Valley
dell'Ufita. Once you reach Castel Baronia, at the Giuliano equipped area, it will be possible
taste for free products based on the delicious Ravece oil produced on site, on
initiative of the local Pro Loco. Afterwards, we will resume the journey towards Carife (third
stage – route C), from here you will tackle the climb to Trevico, crossing the thick woods
of the so-called "Bocche di Carife" (fourth stage – route D). Once you reach Trevico, the most
high Campania, it will be possible to visit the beautiful historic center and take a
tasting at a renowned local company producing the famous "prosciutto di
Trevico" and other cured meats and cheeses, accompanied by a taste of the excellent Irpinia wine.
Then we will resume the path to descend along the slopes of Trevico and reach again
Vallesaccarda (fifth stage – route E – arrival), crossing the path of the "Fedeli
of the Madonna of Anzano", which according to a centuries-old tradition links the community of Trevico
with the nearby town of Anzano di Puglia, in the province of Foggia. The route, which in its

(fifth stage – route E). Numerous refreshment points will be active along the entire route and
at each intermediate stage it will be possible to use a shuttle service, which will accompany the
participants at the starting/finishing point of the next stage or at the stage of
