Omar Batti, a 32-year-old from San Giuseppe Vesuviano already known to the police, was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Ottaviano station for illegal possession of a firearm. The man was chatting with other people in Via Ferrovia dello Stato when, having noticed the patrol, he hid a plastic package in a vase. Attracted by his gesture, the soldiers searched him and in the package they found a Walther 7,65 caliber pistol complete with magazine but without ammunition. Batti, who ended up in handcuffs, was taken to the Poggioreale prison. The seized weapon will be subjected to ballistic tests to verify whether it was used in bloody crimes.
