FRIGNANO (Carla Caputo). A morning dedicated to engines and road safety. On Sunday 6 October, the 1st vintage car and motorcycle rally (listed in the Italian Historic Vehicle Register) will be held in the market area. The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Frignano led by Mayor Gabriele Piatto, was organized by the Auto Moto Club Napoli Nord of Matteo Ciccarelli and the association “Generazione Sociale” chaired by Nicola Pagano. Also supporting the event are the association “Mamme Coraggio e Vittime della Strada” Onlus (AMCVS), chaired by Elena Ronzullo, the association “Orizzonte Infinito Onlus”, the association “Ludis”, the volunteer association “Il volto sociale”, the Italian association of Family Members and Victims of the Road Onlus (AIFVS Onlus), represented by the Aversa and Aversa countryside representative Biagio Ciaramella, and the association “Una mano per il sociale”.
"For us - says the deputy mayor and councilor for social policies, Giuseppe Sequino - the event that will be held on Sunday is very important both from a social point of view, as a moment of aggregation, and as regards road safety education. Often this topic tends to be overlooked and this is very wrong. It is important to remember the rules of the highway code because not only do you put your own safety at risk, but also that of others. I would propose to include it, as a school subject, in the curriculum so that all future drivers and motorcyclists can be made responsible. In light of this, we, in the entire municipal administration, are very happy to host an event like this in our city".
“We strongly wanted this event – says Nicola Pagano – because we want to raise awareness among the young people who live in our area. We live in an area where the culture of wearing a helmet as a means of saving lives is not yet rooted and who, more than courageous mothers, can testify to this need? However, the day must also be a moment of joy and leisure to celebrate the beauty of our heritage of vintage cars and motorbikes, evidence of the great care that many enthusiasts have. We therefore want to make two important moments of our daily life coincide”. Ciccarelli also stated: “The event on Sunday sees a meeting between enthusiasts of vintage vehicles, coming from all over Campania. It is the right occasion to spend half a day with friends. The formula has already been tested: breakfast offered, good music, parchments to commemorate the event, gadgets and cups/trophies for collectors with the oldest vehicles. The event also includes a tour of the city, the meeting will end with the topic of road safety, a very important topic that, given the advent of social media, has become even more compromised”.
“We thank the mayor of Frignano and the entire municipal administration for joining the road safety project. We, from the association Mamme coraggio e Vittime della strada, have also joined, as volunteers, the 'NoDi in comune' project through a listening desk every Wednesday from 14:30 pm to 17:30 pm at the municipality of Frignano. This initiative was born from the synergy of many associations that, by making all their experience available, offer free support to all those who suffer discrimination of any kind. I, personally, support the families affected by my same pain. I am very happy about this event that will be held on Sunday. Road safety is one of the issues on which we must insist to save all of our lives, but especially those of young drivers”, says the president of the association “Mamme Coraggio e Vittime Stradali, Elena Ronzullo.
“We are very satisfied with the event that will take place in Frignano also because it is the continuation of a path started in the municipality of Qualiano – says Biagio Ciaramella -. We are managing to raise awareness in both the provinces of Naples and Caserta. We will continue on this path to save human lives. The years in which current vintage cars represented everyday life were really different: all this innocent blood was not shed on the roads and all the related causes were practically absent. Today the world has changed and Italians must be educated to respect the rules. This is not a given. Thanks to the institutions involved and to President Matteo Ciccarelli for the great effort made during the organization phase. Also in Frignano, after Aversa, we want to propose a memorandum of understanding characterized by initiatives aimed at promoting road safety conditions. Each of us must contribute in our own small way – he concludes – to make our own life and the lives of others safer”.
The president of the Italian Association of Relatives and Road Victims Onlus, Alberto Pallotti, underlines the aspects of a battle that he has been waging for several years in concert with over 120 branches nationwide: “The roads of our country must be synonymous with safety and not the cause of avoidable deaths. It is important that every driver is aware of what it means to sit behind the wheel, of what responsibilities derive from it, of how reckless behavior can change a human life and that of their family members forever. The use of drugs or alcohol must absolutely be avoided. Throughout Italy we are carrying forward these concepts of prevention. We are also in trials involving the relatives of victims who passed away too soon, such as the Hungarian bus massacre in which 17 people lost their lives. The branch managers are doing an excellent job, our hope is that the number of accidents will drop significantly and that fair penalties will be inflicted on those who make mistakes”.
