On Thursday, October 10, at 6:00 PM, the Gran Caffè Gambrinus will host the presentation of the book "Voci della città" (Rogiosi Editore), written by Domenico Sica, with a thoughtful preface by the editor of the Roma newspaper, Antonio Sasso, who will be present at the event. The author and editor-in-chief Sasso will be joined by journalist Ermanno Corsi, Roma newspaper editor Pasquale Clemente, and publisher Rosario Bianco.
The city of Naples told through the voices of its protagonists, women and men who live it every day on the front line, dedicating themselves with commitment to their professional activities. Domenico Sica has collected almost one hundred and fifty interviews since October 2016, publishing them in the newspaper “Il Roma”. A selection of fifty interviews, accompanied by photographs, now becomes a book, in which the different characters talk about themselves and their daily lives in a beautiful and difficult city like Naples. Entrepreneurs, celebrities, journalists, politicians, artists, jurists, academics, priests: the journalist has drawn from a truly broad range of backgrounds, and through the stories of the interviewees a complex and varied portrait of the city and its inhabitants emerges. Famous and lesser-known characters step onto an imaginary stage, tell their stories and tell their stories: from the metropolitan archbishop Crescenzio Sepe to the philosopher Aldo Masullo, from the publisher Rosario Bianco to the sculptor Lello Esposito and many others.
Domenico Sica was Secretary General and Director of Legal Affairs at Strade Ferrate Secondarie Meridionali (now Circumvesuviana), as well as a member of the Disciplinary Council for the company and Vice President of the Regional Union Federmanager. In 2003, the President of the Republic awarded him the honor of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
He writes for the “Roma” and has received numerous journalism awards. Driven by his love for Naples, he wrote a book about his story, “Io, napoletano turistico a Napoli” (Loffredo editore); he is also co-author of the book “Napoli in love/2” (Compagnia dei Trovatori Edizioni). In January 2019, the International Academy Parthenopea appointed him Cultural Ambassador in the World.
