The 2019 edition of the Mozart Box was a resounding success, concluding on Monday, September 30th at the Royal Palace of Portici with a concert by Gino Paoli, accompanied by Danilo Rea on piano. A veritable river of people applauded the Genoese singer-songwriter's performance, which paid homage to several singer-songwriters and revived his old hits, including "Sassi, la gatta," and "Una lunga storia d'amore," alternating songs and cigarettes, like an evening with friends. Another resounding success was the evening of the 27th, with a concert by Bennato, who warmed up the packed audience with his entire rock repertoire, further softened by the presence of the fantastic Phlegraean quartet. Among other events, the show dedicated to Luigi Tenco, "Cuori ribelli," was a major success with audiences and critics alike. This was due both to the splendid performances of the two protagonists Alberico Lombardi and Elisabetta D'Acunzo, accompanied by indisputably great musicians, and to the high-quality and focused production by writer and director Gioia Miale. The only regret was the interruption due to rain midway through the show. The other shows, though distinguished by the excellent Pierannunzi and the sensational Terrasonora, were less well-received in terms of audience turnout. The only flaw was the more than ten rows of reserved seats in the Paoli and Bennato shows, reserved for a non-paying dignitary audience, which sparked considerable protest from the audience.
