“The Big Hack – HackNight@Museum” returns to Naples on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October. Promoted by the Campania Region and created by “Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition 4.0” with Sviluppo Campania and in collaboration with the University of Naples “Federico II”. The fourth edition of the programming marathon aimed at developers, makers, engineers, designers, startuppers, students and communication experts will be held in the museum complex of Saints Marcellinus and Festus – heritage of the University of Naples “Federico II” – to find concrete solutions and projects in strategic and diversified fields. The Big Hack – HackNight@Museum is the traditional event promoted by the Department of Innovation, Startups and Internationalization of the Campania Region that coincides with the opening of the academic year of the Apple Developer Academy and that is part of the regional strategy of promotion and diffusion of digital skills, especially among young people to bring them closer to the study of scientific disciplines. The challenges are launched by: Campania Region, FCA Research Center, ACEA, Almaviva, Clara-Cisco Consortium, Electrolux, Eni, Healthware, Merck, So.Re.Sa. – Colli Hospital Trust, Capodimonte Technology Museum, Trenitalia-State Railways. Each promoter will offer a prize to be awarded to the winning team of their challenge: this year the total prize pool amounts to more than thirty thousand euros including shopping vouchers, business-oriented services and trips to important international technological events. All the challenges will also be disseminated through the Open Innovation platform of the Campania Region, a real Innovation Marketplace, the only one in Italy to also allow public bodies to express their own demand for new technologies and solutions by involving subjects such as companies, startups, universities and research centers. The work will begin at 9.30 on October 5th with the registration of participants and the presentation of the XX Challenges launched by each promoter. The marathon will start at 12 and will end at 15 on Sunday 6 October. Throughout the marathon, participants will be supported by a group of mentors who will have the task of supporting the teams from a technical point of view and assisting them in the development of the projects. Each promoter will then choose the team that they believe best meets the requirements of their Challenge. In addition to the presence of exceptional speakers, this year there will be an Artificial Musical Intelligence Laboratory that includes a demonstration session created through the interaction between a live musician, Alex Braga, and a predictive algorithm capable of interpreting human activity in real time and adapting to his improvisation. “We have reached the fourth edition of our programming marathon that involves boys and girls to respond to the innovation challenges launched by large companies, public administration, museums and hospitals. With the 2019 edition – says Valeria Fascione, Councilor for Startups, Innovation and Internationalization of the Campania Region – we reach important numbers: 750 participants aged between 7 and 70, coming from 12 countries, over 40 subjects involved between private and public. And all this in the most beautiful and representative locations of Naples, from Piazza del Plebiscito, to the Museum and Bosco di Capodimonte, up to the monastic complex of Saints Marcellino and Festo in the heart of the city. The challenge we launched 4 years ago as Giunta De Luca was clear: to focus on the driving force of the younger generations and stimulate the growth of digital skills along the school, training, university and research supply chain for the development of new products and services, and this is how we have attracted the interest of numerous players who are now investing in our territory”. “The hackathons organized by our University with the Campania Region in collaboration with many companies, public institutions and a way to test our young people, increase their skills and soft skills are back. This weekend in the beautiful location of San Marcellino, there will be a two-day event that will see the participation of many young talents, women and men who will put themselves on the line to win this challenge”. This is the comment of Gaetano Manfredi, Rector of the University of Naples “Federico II” and President of CRUI. HackNight@Museum is the exclusive stage of the approach to the seventh edition of “Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition” which will take place in the Capital from 18 to 20 October at the Fiera di Roma. The initiative is co-financed by the European Union through the POR ERDF 2014-2020.
