URBAN NATURE 2019 is the WWF Italy initiative that focuses on the promotion and enrichment of urban biodiversity with the aim of involving the general public and civic entities already active in the area, even those outside the WWF, with the aim of giving more value to nature and thus generating a new way of thinking about urban spaces.
The ecosystem services provided by urban biodiversity are crucial for the health and well-being of those who live in cities, for the sustainability of urban communities and for the future of the entire planet. Nature in city spaces is hidden everywhere, not only in urban parks, but also in squares, school gardens, on ruins or rooftops, in shared gardens
up to the balcony of the house.
The objectives of “Urban Nature 2019” are:
expand knowledge about Nature in the city and its importance;
strengthen the perspective of Nature “at home” through active participation (citizen science).
aggregate and activate the community in the “discovery and care of Nature” (from citizen science to citizen conservation) involve civic entities external to the WWF already involved in the management of green areas, urban parks, social gardens and shared gardens identify critical points and pilot experiences on the best management of greenery and urban biodiversity at a local level and define a shared platform for points of requests valid throughout the national territory for the good governance of nature in the city.

Friday 4 October – 8:30 am to 13:00 pm awareness-raising activity and involvement of the new generations in urban biodiversity with a walk of the pupils of the “F. Torre” primary school from the school garden, where a pomegranate tree and a rose will be planted, to the Park
Urban park of via Calandra designed in 1995 by the WWF as part of the project “Forestiamo la città” and best practices of care, protection and use, where a Lime tree will be planted. The plants, donated by the Rotary Club of Benevento, will be entrusted to the “protection” of the new generations

awareness-raising activities and involvement of the new generations in urban biodiversity with a walk of the pupils of the bilingual primary school from the school garden to the social farm "L'orto di Casa Betania", a small agricultural reality that is located in a residential area, born from the need to combine a set of different values ranging from social integration to socio-sustainable development, up to the valorization of urban social agriculture as a driving force of
social cohesion; it is the only reality of its kind in Campania. On the occasion of the event, the Rotary Club of Benevento will donate a pear tree to be entrusted to the protection of the school children to be planted in the social garden

ecological walk from the Urban Park of via Calandra to the Urban Park “Paul Harris” in the Capodimonte district (created in 2018 by the Rotary Club of Benevento) in order to raise awareness among residents and users of the neighborhood by bringing the good example of the Park of via Nicola Calandra. Volunteers from the WWF, the CAI and the Rotary Club of Benevento will plant about twenty saplings to enrich the “Paul Harris” Park.
