“We have been notified of new wheel thefts in via del Parco Margherita in Naples. The latest chapter in an emergency that has been going on for months now and has become exponentially worse since the end of August. The phenomenon is transversal and involves all neighborhoods, from the center to the outskirts. And it continues without stopping. Every morning, motorists find their vehicles without wheels. A criminal spiral that does not seem to have an end. Citizens are fed up, and it could not be otherwise”. This is what regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and councilor of the Sole che Ride in the I Municipality Gianni Caselli say. “Wheel thefts – continue Borrelli and Caselli – are closely linked to the shortcomings in controlling the territory during the night hours. The police force does what it can but is forced to deal with understaffing. Interior Minister Lamorgese has announced the sending of four hundred new units to Naples. A promise that echoes the one made months ago, and then unfulfilled, by former minister Salvini. We sincerely hope that this is the right time. We need to reaffirm the presence of the State on the streets, especially during the night hours when, for thieves and criminals, it becomes easier to commit crimes”.
