MWednesday, November 27 at 18.00:2018 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Piano di Sorrento, the book dedicated to the Valloni della costiera will be officially presented, the result of the themed conference held at Villa Fondi in October XNUMX and of the contributions, expanded and in-depth, of university professors and experts in the sector. The book, entitled “I Valloni della Penisola Sorrentina”, already present in national libraries, is promoted by the Aria Nuova Piano di Sorrento association and has as its sole objective the urgency of keeping the spotlight on the deep ravines of tuff ridge that fascinated the travellers of the Grand Tour and today risk compromise and degradation due to human neglect or incivility. After the welcome address by Mayor Vincenzo Iaccarino and the President of the Aria Nuova Piano di Sorrento Association Michele Guglielmo, two authors of the book will speak: Antonino Testa, Researcher in plant pathology at the Department of Agriculture at the University of Naples Federico II, who will address an excursus on the biodiversity of the ravines and the types of analysis possible today, and Milena Parlato, architect specialized in the restoration of architectural and landscape assets, who will illustrate studies and project hypotheses for the enhancement of the area and similar virtuous cases in Italy and Europe. Furthermore, Monia Cilento, Senior expert in European planning, will outline the practical framework, the requests for funding already attempted for the protection of the Valloni and the related critical issues. Finally, Maria Izzo will speak, a teacher at the “S. Paolo” multi-specialist institute in Sorrento, one of the institutes involved in the three-year educational project of the Aria Nuova association which saw the itinerant photographic exhibition on the Valloni of the coast with the shots of Luigi De Pasquale as protagonist. A student representation will be present. The event will be moderated by Giancarlo Spezie, oceanographer and Professor Emeritus of Parthenope University and head of the Valloni Project.
