Un “step back” by the outgoing governor Vincenzo De Luca in view of the upcoming regional elections of 2020 in Campania, considered “divisive”. The one asking for it is Gennaro Migliore, deputy of Italia Viva, a new political party founded by Matteo Renzi, who in an interview with “Il Mattino” says: “A political response to Salvini is needed in Campania and there is no more time to waste. We need to organize a political response to Matteo Salvini. At this moment there is a large and very active mobilization of the people who recognize themselves in the sardine movement that cannot be dispersed and is useful to prevent a victory of the Northern League in a region like Campania. The Democratic Party must emerge from a de facto paralysis with respect to the indication of candidacies, because if chosen at the last moment, see Umbria, they lead to nothing. And we need reasoning that is open to the most diverse parties, including the M5s”. According to Migliore, “a broad front” can be set up in Campania “if we invest in a project that puts the needs of our land at the center first and foremost, and not the personal ambitions of anyone, including those of the person who is now the president of the Region. For this reason, we need a broad coalition that cares about the suffering of our land, putting aside grudges and unfortunate jokes that are not good for building a winning project”. Migliore then underlines how in these years of De Luca's administration "decisive problems have never been seriously addressed", starting with the "environmental issue" on which "I have not seen great results. Just look at the eco-bales: beyond De Luca's jokes of dubious taste, no great results have been seen, despite the Renzi government having allocated something like 500 million euros, the largest funding to a region in the history of the republic": To organize a broad coalition, Migliore explains, "we must be able to speak the same language with all the people, including recovering civic spirit", and "we need to overcome the centralization of recent years and give a positive response to those who have continued to report difficulties and suffering without being listened to". Migliore explains that "we need to start again from Naples which, like it or not, is a European capital: it must therefore be more central for the policies of the Region, as well as many internal and decentralized areas. I am thinking of East Naples and the never-realized intervention on the Domitian coast. All fields of intervention that we cannot leave to the right".
