Mplow. Yesterday evening the Carabinieri of the radiomobile section arrested in Marano di Napoli a 50-year-old man, Luigi Chianese, accused of burning waste.
The Carabinieri intervened thanks to the collaboration of some residents of the industrial area of Marano (the so-called “pip area”) who had reported a column of dense smoke coming from an agricultural field that made the area unbreathable.
The patrol intervened, located the source of the fire and surprised the man while he was still busy feeding the flames, also risking setting fire to the surrounding vegetation. In the fire, extinguished thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, various types of waste were found: plastic material, pruning waste, household furnishings (painted doors, furniture parts, ceramic vases, etc.), expired drugs and urban waste.
The rapid intervention of the military, who have long been engaged in targeted services to combat environmental crimes, allowed the man to be arrested on charges of illegal burning of waste. He is now under house arrest awaiting a direct trial. The area has been placed under criminal seizure.
