“I express great satisfaction for the approval of the regional law that makes the beaches and beach resorts of Campania plastic free. The text that I proposed, approved by the council in the session of November 27, provides that on the beaches of the regional coast the introduction and use of containers, dishes, bags and disposable packaging made of non-compostable material is prohibited. Likewise, the law requires catering and beverage outlets, beach resorts or those with access to the free beach, to use containers, bags and other disposable packaging not produced in compostable material. This is a fundamental step forward in the protection of the coasts and the sea. Too often the bodies of water that our coasts overlook are invaded by plastic waste. The law will also serve to make the sea cleaner”. This is stated by the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli. "The law provides - continues Borrelli - that in the public tender procedures for the concession assignment of areas of the maritime state property and beaches with the possibility of carrying out accessory activities of food and beverage supply, the use of reusable materials will represent a reward requirement. Now we expect particular attention from the municipalities in enforcing the law and imposing sanctions. Too often we have witnessed ordinances on plastic free which have not corresponded, however, to the actual reduction in the use of single-use plastic". |
