This year, "Cadeaux al Castello" celebrates its tenth edition: gates are open for a month, until December 8th, every day from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm. Tickets are already on sale on the official website: by purchasing online, you will have priority access to the Castle, skipping the line. During the market's opening days, tickets can also be purchased at the Castle ticket office.
The theme chosen for this year is Italian Crafts in Europe, a journey through the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe, staged by the excellence of Italian craftsmanship. Over 120 exhibitors will recreate, in the external areas of the Castle and in the internal ones, the typical chalets of the markets of Rovaniemi, Edinburgh, Bruges, Dresden, Aix-en-Provence, Tallinn and Salzburg. Each space will be strongly characterized by the typical cuisine, crafts and objects; the exhibition stands themselves will have different shapes and colors depending on the European markets they are inspired by.
The beating heart of the 2019 edition will be the Grande Baita di Babbo Natale, where all children will have the opportunity to take a free photo with Santa Claus. An elf will then deliver a code to be entered on the web app cadeauxalcastellodilimatola.it, where the photo can be downloaded.
In short, a journey through the sounds and atmospheres typical of Christmas, among the works of artists and Christmas decorations, with a full immersion in the Italian and European culinary tradition in the many refreshment points of the Castle. Even the ancient walls and the external spaces will be illuminated for the holidays. There will also be musical moments and entertainment for adults and children.
Great attention, moreover, to environmental sustainability: the 2019 Christmas market will have a very low impact with material, in the food points, all in cardboard and bamboo cane.
"Cadeaux al Castello" has been named one of the top three Christmas markets in Europe and attracts visitors from across Central and Southern Italy, as well as regions as far north. It was conceived by Giuseppina Martone, wife of Stefano Sgueglia, the owner of the market, who runs it with her children.
Limatola Castle will enter its Millennium in 2020: the first stone for its construction was laid in 1020. Thanks to the redevelopment project completed nine years ago, carried out by the Sgueglia family, it today represents a prestigious point of historical, artistic and cultural interest and is a famous location for ceremonies with internal cuisine and pastry shop. A proposal also enriched by the Hotel & Spa del Castello with eleven exclusive rooms, each with a specific style of colors and silk fabrics from San Leucio.
