Napoli. “There is an armed man in the ward”. The report was made to the police by a security guard on duty at the Monaldi in Naples. But when the officers, aboard a dozen patrol cars, arrived at the hospital, they tracked down and identified the man, finding that he was not armed. The general prevention office of the Naples Police Headquarters is investigating the episode. The security guard who raised the alarm at the Monaldi hospital in Naples by reporting the presence of an armed person inside the facility is being questioned by the police in these minutes. From an initial reconstruction of the facts, it seems that everything started from an argument that the guard had at the entrance to the hospital with a person who was trying to enter the health facility with his car. The guard reported him to the police, saying that he had a bulletproof vest and a weapon with him. But neither one nor the other were found by the police who intervened on the spot and identified the man as the caretaker of a building on Via Scarlatti, in the Vomero district. Investigations are underway to shed light on the episode.
Neapolitan trade unionist Giuseppe Alviti, leader of the association of sworn private guards, intervened on the subject, declaring: “Unfortunately with the legislation in force for sworn private guards, even when they are without a contract, therefore unemployed, the possession of the weapon remains and in extreme cases like today's, a borderline mind can produce harmful effects for the community, which is why for years we have been asking for a review of the entire sector, I would just add, thank goodness no one has died”.
