I precari APU, public utility workers, have occupied the regional headquarters of the Democratic Party in Naples, displaying a banner from the balcony of the building on Via Toledo with the words “Rights and Dignity”. The workers, who have also been protesting for days in front of the Campania Region headquarters on Via Santa Lucia, are challenging the Democratic Party for “the lack of response to the appeal of the 2600 APU who are asking to start work projects as soon as possible”. “For almost a year – reads a note from USB union coordinator Giovanni Pagano – over 2000 former recipients of social safety nets, involved in public utility projects at local authorities in Campania, have found themselves in dramatic conditions, without stable work, at the mercy of training courses and regional job relocation projects that have brought no benefit to the unemployed in our region”. The workers have announced that the occupation of the Pd headquarters and the protest at the Region will continue pending a clear decision from the Campania administration.
