Napoli. In the early hours of this morning, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Naples, as part of the operation called “STELLA NERA”, executed a precautionary custody order, issued by the investigating judge at the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against 19 people considered, to varying degrees, seriously suspected of criminal association of a Camorra nature, association dedicated to drug trafficking, extortion aggravated by the mafia method and purpose.
The investigation activity has allowed us to reconstruct the changes that have occurred in the criminal structures of the “Rione Sanità” of Naples in recent years, reconstructing the role played in them by the “Mauro” clan, active in the so-called “ai Miracoli” area and headed by the criminal MAURO Ciro (born in 52) nicknamed “ò milionario”.
The precautionary measure executed today is the result of several investigative lines that have already recently allowed us to reconstruct the existence of armed conflict with other clans fighting for dominance over the Sanità district, already affected by previous precautionary measures.
Thanks to wiretapping activities (both environmental and telephone) and other complex investigative activities, mostly focused on subjects connected to the clan leader's family nucleus and his most trusted men, the organizational chart of the clan of a parallel criminal association dedicated to the distribution-imposition of narcotics in the various drug dealing areas of the neighborhood was reconstructed.
The investigative activity, corroborated by statements from collaborators of justice of different criminal origins, has also allowed us to reconstruct the system of alliances and oppositions that have marked the history of crime in the city district in recent years, starting from the release of Muro Ciro (2013) and up to the present day.
Light has also been shed, despite the ongoing climate of silence and fear of retaliation that leads victims not to file a complaint, on the instigators and material perpetrators of extortion schemes, attempted and carried out, to the detriment of entrepreneurial and commercial activities with requests for money between 1.000 and 20.000 euros.
The execution of the measure was also supported by personnel from the San Carlo Arena Police Station who, like the Provincial Command and the Naples-Stella CC, under the direction of the DDA, carried out investigative activities focused on episodes of extortion to the detriment of commercial activities in the neighborhood.
In particular, the GIP of the Court of Naples has ordered the precautionary custody in prison of:
