Ppresentation of the book by Phoenix Publishing Linea Serie Oro: “I Thought It Was a Comedian, Instead It Was Troisi” by Ciro Borrelli, Saturday 30 November 2019 at 18 pm at the Cinema and Theatre Bookshop in via Parco Margherita in Naples
What remains of Massimo Troisi is the memory of his irony and his language, which were his own; of that singular ability to mock every stereotype, managing to be loved by everyone.
An unfillable void in the cinema and in the hearts of his fans, that's what he left when, 25 years ago, during the filming of the movie Il Postino, he passed away at the age of 41.
“I Thought It Was a Comedian, Instead It Was Troisi” by Ciro Borrelli, published by Phoenix Publishing, which is part of the SERIE ORO editorial line by Anita Curci, is a tribute to the artist from San Giorgio a Cremano and features a moving preface by his sister Rosaria.
The volume will be presented on Saturday 30 November 2019 at 18 pm at the Libreria del Cinema e del Teatro in via Parco Margherita in Naples.
The author will discuss the matter with Giuseppina Scognamiglio, professor of Italian theatre literature at Federico II; the actor Angelo Orlando; the film producer Gaetano Daniele and Alfredo Cozzolino, a childhood friend of Troisi, between readings by the actress Maria Basile. The journalist and critic Giuseppe Cozzolino will moderate.
The work opens with a brief biography of the actor, followed by Massimo's Thought, a chapter that reports his statements, but also statements about him, released by people belonging to the world of cinema and theater. The second, entitled Confidenze, collects interviews with people who knew him or with whom he worked.
The third part is dedicated to Massimo's heart and to the health problem that affected him for life, followed by the part relating to his professional career, his theatrical commitment, from his first performances at the parish oratory to his participation in Effetto smorfia, a television programme where he performed together with Lello Arena and Enzo Decaro.
The fifth and final chapter examines the films of the artist from Campania, both those shot and written by him and those in which he merely starred.
