SBoth inside and outside the municipal assembly, a loud and clear “No!” has been received to the majority's desire to entrust the forced collection of taxes to Ex Equitalia. However, it seems that the mayor and his acolytes feel the need for this assignment to be stronger than any type of criticism expressed by the opponents.
Michele Grimaldi, leader of the Democrats and Progressives, takes stock of the situation and, reading his note, one might think of a "persecution" or a question of principle.
“After being withdrawn (because it was incorrect) in a first municipal council, after being rejected in a second municipal council, tomorrow – for the third time! – the proposed resolution for the assignment of the forced collection of taxes to ADER, the former Equitalia, returns to the municipal council. Inserted with a sleight of hand on the agenda, with only 24 hours' notice: at the moment, among other things, we do not even know the text of this resolution, the content of which we are still unaware of.
We are faced with an absurd forcing, perpetrated for who knows what obscure reasons and interests, in contempt of the rules and common sense, against citizens, especially the weakest.
Paying taxes is a duty, but the Salvati administration is opting for the wrong path of a punitive and coercive conception of taxation.
We ask you to help spread this news, to tell what is happening.
And we ask you to participate in tomorrow's City Council: to listen, to monitor, to force those who want to make this choice to do so by looking their fellow citizens in the eye.
We, to the best of our ability, will oppose this wicked decision to the last.”
