UA special court in Dhaka has sentenced seven Islamists to death for the terrorist attack on July 1, 2016 at the Holey Artisan restaurant in the Bangladeshi capital, which killed 22 people, including 17 foreigners, nine of whom were Italian. The BBC reports. The death sentence was handed down by Judge Mojibur Rahman. The seven convicted, explains the website bdnews9, will be able to appeal. The defendants – Jahangir Hossain alias Rajib Gandhi, Rakibul Hasan Regan, Aslam Hossain alias Rashedul Islam o Rash, Abdus Sabur Khan alias Soheil Mahfuz, Hadisur Rahman Sagar, Shariful Islam Khaled alias Khalid and Mamunur Rashid Ripon – were present in court at the time of the sentence. Another suspect in the massacre, Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan, was acquitted because the charges against him could not be proven. The seven condemned to death, the website bdnews24 reports, showed no sign of repentance and after hearing the sentence they shouted: "Allah Akbar ... we have done nothing wrong". Two of the prisoners were immediately seen wearing prayer hats with the insignia of the Islamic State.
