– The number of confirmed deaths has risen to at least seven, following the powerful earthquake that caused extensive damage in Durres and Thumana. This was reported by the news site Balkan Web, according to which police sources have reported the rescue of 22 people who remained under the rubble so far. Around 1.900 police officers have been deployed on the ground to assist the population affected by the earthquake. Dramatic moments in which, however, calm must be maintained at all costs: this is the first comment by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on the strong earthquake that shook the Balkan country this morning, causing at least six victims so far. “There have been serious consequences and unfortunately we have lost lives. All the state structures are standing and we are working intensely to save all the people in danger. We must remain united and face this hard blow together. We will do everything possible and, with our great friends at our side, we will be able to overcome this situation too,” Rama wrote on Facebook.
