Su disposizione della procura della Repubblica di Salerno, la guardia di Finanza di Salerno ha eseguito un decreto di sequestro preventivo di beni, fino alla concorrenza di 42 milioni di euro, a firma del gip del tribunale di Salerno, nei confronti di tre indagati impegnati nella distribuzione di carburante nel sud Italia, che tra il 2013 ed il 2017 hanno acquistato circa 60 milioni di litri di gasolio, soggetto ad un regime di tassazione agevolata, destinato poi ad usi diversi rispetto a quelli riconosciuti ai fini dell’abbattimento dell’imposta.

The measure was adopted at the end of a tax audit, conducted by the Eboli Finance Police, led by Captain Manuel Carbonara, against a company based in Altavilla Silentina operating in the fuel trade. The analysis of bank movements and the cross-referencing of information acquired from the company's suppliers and customers made it possible to ascertain that diesel for agricultural use was sold to motorists and truck drivers. Diesel for agriculture benefits from a reduction in excise duty of 61% of the rate set for automotive diesel. The final price is consequently about 1 euro per litre lower than that charged by road distributors. For this reason, limits are imposed on the marketing of the product, which cannot be used for anything other than "agricultural" purposes.
