“I don't fall for it? and if I do, I'll report it”. This is the initiative of the pensioners of Spi-Cgil, Fnp-Cisl, Uilp-Uil of Castellammare di Stabia (NAPLES) against scams against over 65s that have increased from 2012 to 300.000 according to national data from 340.000. Alarming data that have pushed the unions to promote, within their respective offices, an initial moment of listening, information, protection and support towards reporting the damage suffered. They have jointly edited the publication of a manual 'I don't fall for it? and if I do, I'll report it' which will be presented on November 27, 2019 at 10 am at the Circolo della Legalita' in Corso Garibaldi 6, in the presence of representatives of the institutions and law enforcement. “The economic crisis, the decline of family networks, an increasingly weakened and underfunded welfare system certainly contribute to this escalation of crimes that not even prevention and the attention of the police can definitively stem – say the secretaries Antonio De Luca, Salvatore Esposito, Ferdinando Oliviero, respectively of Spi-Cgil, Fnp Cisl and Uilp Uil – a social phenomenon, therefore, that affects the behavior of individuals, limits their active life path, immerses them in a fearful solitude that often results in shame and feelings of inadequacy. This phenomenon calls us, therefore, to a collective responsibility. The liveability of the territory, the social and legal practices that the institutions implement, have a value, if not definitive, at least deterrent with respect to petty crime. The sense of greater daily security is a necessary parameter for the good life of each of us. For the elderly it is indispensable”.
