I Carabinieri of Venaria Reale, in collaboration with colleagues from the Anti-Sabotage Artificers Unit of Turin, after a targeted territorial control service, reported 6 people responsible, in various capacities, for illegal possession of explosive material and receiving stolen goods and seized 133 kg of fireworks. The operation was born from monitoring local markets, where in the vicinity of the Christmas holidays some merchants also sell fireworks. The Carabinieri discovered a family from Venaria, father, daughter and son-in-law, of Neapolitan origin, who sell fruit and vegetables at the market, but are suspected of also selling firecrackers at this time of year. The suspicion became certainty, when a 60-year-old, with a criminal record, and an accomplice, went to the Turin local market in Corso Nizza, and handed over 37 kilos of fireworks to a street vendor, a 48-year-old, with a criminal record. The Carabinieri intervened to stop the sellers and buyers and in the trunk of the former they found 77 kilos of fireworks. At the same time, two other family members, a daughter and son-in-law, on board a van, were stopped while selling 48 kg to a housewife in Venaria Reale. It was ascertained - the military of the Arma reported - that the sale was without any police authorization and the explosive material was held without any minimum safety requirement. The two customers were reported to the Turin Prosecutor's Office for receiving stolen goods, while the four 'sellers' will have to answer for possession and illegal sale of explosive material. The fireworks, seized and made safe by the expert Carabinieri bomb disposal experts of Turin, after laboratory analysis, to understand their origin and chemical composition, will be destroyed.
