The 700th century Neapolitan music dedicated to Christmas will close the Convivio Armonico festival with two prestigious concerts at the Royal and Pontifical Basilica of San Francesco di Paola in Piazza del Plebiscito, on 28 and 30 December 2019.
On December 28th at 19,00:700 pm, the historic Ensemble “Le Musiche da Camera” of Naples will perform a program full of rarities for the concert “IN NATIVITATE DOMINI – Music for the Holy Christmas in XNUMXth-century Naples” with music by Giordano, Manna, Sabatino, Servillo.
Using period instruments, the ensemble composed of Egidio Mastrominico – concert violin, Giovanni Rota – baroque violin, Leonardo Massa – baroque cello, Debora Capitanio – harpsichord with Renata Cataldi on the traverse and the extraordinary voices of mezzo-soprano Rosa Montano and soprano Francesco Divito. The latter has already been a guest in several editions of the festival as a soloist and has just returned from an acclaimed concert last November 23 in Convivio Armonico. They will lead us to discover wonderful pages of Christmas music in Naples in the eighteenth century.
On December 30th at 19,00:XNUMX pm, the young Orchestra “F. D'AVALOS” will debut, named after the eminent Director and Composer Francesco D'Avalos. Directed by one of his young students, Fabio Espasiano, with the supervision of renowned tutors, the orchestra composed of young talents from Campania will propose a challenging program from Manfredini to Mozart up to new compositions, with young soloists such as the soprano Alessia Di Cicco, the clarinetist Sabrina Uccello and the timpanist Laura Francesca Mastrominico.
The Convivio Armonico festival is divided into two cycles: Sounds in the Basilica and Sounds in Sacred Places (Basilica of S. Francesco di Paola, Church of S. Caterina a Formiello, Basilica of S. Maria Egiziaca a Forcella, Church of S. Orsola a Chiaia) and Music in the Body of Naples (Museum of Piazzetta Nilo), which will see the performance of great artists and interpreters of an ancient and modern repertoire in the rediscovery of eighteenth-century Naples and beyond.
The musical project is further divided into: Concerts of the Papal Sacristy, Baroque Itineraries between Naples and Europe, Wind/String concerts, the project Youth and Music and Voice and Organ.
For the 2019 season, entrusted to the artistic direction of Maestros Egidio Mastrominico and Rosa Montano, professor at the “N. Sala” Conservatory of Benevento, ample space will be given to important recoveries of scores from eighteenth-century Naples, to the presentation of recording projects and seminars relating to the Neapolitan Music School, continuing at the same time to enhance works from the contemporary repertoire with particular attention to the latest generation of Neapolitan composers.
The review is curated by AREA ARTE Associazione culturale Mediterranea, which for years has conducted an in-depth study and research of Neapolitan music of the 600th and 700th centuries and promotes its diffusion and valorization.
The series of concerts is dedicated to the memory of the singer and artist PINA CIPRIANI.
