The white helmets under the command of Colonel Luigi Maiello discovered, yesterday evening, an excavation carried out without authorizations with the installation of huge quantities of waste materials and cast iron wells stacked perhaps for the construction of a garage. The area concerned was placed under preventive seizure together with the site of storage of the inert materials and an excavator. The owner of the land was reported to the judicial authorities for violations of building and landscape regulations. The blitz was triggered after some passing officers had noticed the coming and going of trucks carrying large quantities of inert materials. Suspicious, they also called in their colleagues on duty coordinated by Commander Maiello. During the check that took place at dusk, they proceeded with the seizure. The day after the check, investigations continue to verify whether the work had been authorized. The checks will also be carried out at the technical office of the municipality to ascertain whether the works are accompanied by documents legitimizing the execution. The owner of the land, a merchant from Arzano, was identified and reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office for violations of landscape and environmental regulations. Administrative sanctions are also possible.
