The Capodimonte Museum and Royal Woods is offering a triple gift to the city of Naples for Christmas 2019, reopening part of the city's large green lung. This important historic garden is an ideal place to rejuvenate mental and physical well-being and enjoy moments of pure relaxation. On Saturday, December 21st, starting at 10:00 a.m., the "Coltiviamo la Bellezza, Open Day for Christmas" celebration will take place. The central avenue of the woods will be reopened, following initial restoration of the late-Baroque plant architecture. A wooded area particularly damaged by the October 2018 storm will be restored with the planting of new trees. The new soccer field will be handed over to the city with an inaugural match.

The day is promoted by the director of the Museum and Royal Wood of Capodimonte Sylvain Bellenger with the collaboration of the association Amici di Capodimonte onlus chaired by Errico di Lorenzo, the association Premio GreenCare Aps with the president Benedetta de Falco and the vice president Michele Pontecorvo Ricciardi, the company Euphorbia srl with the administrator Nunzia Petrecca and will see the participation of the associations MusiCapodimonte with musical performances during the morning and Amici del Real Bosco with visits and workshops for children.

Three highlights of the day.

It starts at 10.00 in the area adjacent to the Caselli – De Santis Institute with the presentation of the restoration work of an area particularly damaged by the storm of last October 2018 that led to the closure of a large part of the Forest. As part of the project “Tell your story in Capodimonte/Adopt a tree” carried out by the Amici di Capodimonte onlus association, the Russo di Casandrino Spa company donated 30 trees that were planted in place of those that were uprooted by the strong wind. The donation was promoted by the Premio GreenCare Aps association; Gianni Russo, president of Russo di Casandrino Spa, will be present.

At 10.45 am, meet at the Porta di Mezzo semi-circle to reopen the central avenue of the Bosco, also called “viale a grottone” due to the dense plant architecture that allows a glimpse of the Statue of the Giant at the end of the avenue, after having traveled 1,4 kilometers among holm oaks, oaks and other tree species. Nunzia Petrecca, administrator of the Euphorbia srl company in charge of the care of this important historical Garden, will illustrate the first restoration interventions of the late-Baroque plant architecture and the complete program of subsequent interventions.

From here it will be possible to walk to the area adjacent to the San Gennaro building to inaugurate at 11.30:XNUMX the football pitch donated thanks to the fundraising of the “Festa dell'Estate”, a fundraising initiative promoted by the associations Amici di Capodimonte onlus and Premio GreeenCare Aps with the involvement of companies such as Ferrarelle Spa, associations such as Chicco d'Amore and individual citizen patrons. The new football pitch, made of highly recyclable eco-green material, will be intended for free use by those who frequent the woods and will replace the two currently present near the Caselli-De Sanctis Institute. The first to take to the field will be the promoting associations, the councilors for Green Luigi Felaco and Sport Ciro Borriello, the Napoli Femminile Carpisa, Retake Napoli, Sii Turista della Tua Città, I Pollici Verdi di Scampia. The starting whistle will be entrusted to a truly special referee: 'Babbo Natale'.
