Carabinieri officers from the Marano di Napoli operational unit arrested a 32-year-old local man with no criminal record for illegal possession of explosives and attempting to harm public safety. Officers found 151 firecrackers weighing a total of 6 kilograms in his home. The illegal firecrackers—which bore counterfeit "free for sale" signs despite being homemade—were hidden in bags inside his bedroom. The arrested man is under house arrest awaiting trial.
During an operation organized to combat the spread of illegal fireworks, the Carabinieri of the Ercolano branch arrested Salvatore Imperato, a twenty-seven-year-old local man already known to the police, for possession of explosive material. The man was in possession of almost 9 kilos of illegal fireworks.
The military noticed Imperato with large bags in his hands while walking in via trieste. After being checked, he was found in possession of five improvised explosive devices, known in jargon as “onions”. After finding the devices, the carabinieri also searched the man's car parked nearby and found another 200 homemade devices (known as “rendini”).
The Carabinieri bomb squad intervened and found that the 5 “onions” were oversized: they contained a greater quantity of explosives than usual. The arrested person was subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest
The Carabinieri of the Sant'Anastasia station, during the checks ordered by the provincial command of Naples, found 79 explosive devices for a weight equal to almost 45 kilos of illegal firecrackers hidden inside an abandoned car parked in via Capodivilla. The illegal firecrackers were seized.
The Carabinieri of the Marigliano station reported a 32-year-old local criminal at large for illegal possession of explosives and pyrotechnics. The soldiers found 105 homemade devices and 6 “onions” for a total weight of 35 kilos in the man's home.
