In the Salerno area on the road that goes from San Marzano to Angri and that leads to the SS 268 there is a huge hole, with a diameter of 2 m and half a meter deep. Furthermore, the road appears to be in a highly degraded condition with piles of garbage that occupy its edges.
Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the head of the Greens of Salerno and Province Sofia Esposito carried out an inspection of the area to verify the conditions of the road.
"I believe this is one of the largest potholes in the entire Campania region, and if a car were to crash into it, it could cause serious damage. The pothole, like the rest of the road, needs to be repaired and cleaned for the safety of motorists," Borrelli said.
The leader of the Greens in Salerno, Sofia Esposito, instead, comments on the situation as follows: "This is not an isolated episode, it is something that has been happening for years and no one is finding a solution, they prefer to pass the buck, avoiding responsibility. Here, without adequate maintenance, due to the presence of watercourses, roads and crops are damaged and dangerous situations are created. The most worrying thing is that State Road 268 should be an escape route in the event of an eruption of Vesuvius. But can an escape route ever be a road, full of potholes and garbage, that represents a danger for motorists?"
