Lanterns instead of firecrackers. For the fifth consecutive year, the “New Year’s Eve of Light” returns to Casamarciano. All in the name of a safe and peaceful celebration in the name of solidarity.
Mayor Andrea Manzi has in fact renewed the ordinance with which, since 2015, he has imposed a ban on the use of fireworks, tracchi and firecrackers.
Instead of firecrackers, lanterns of light that the municipality has made available to those who want to join the initiative. The organization has purchased about 300 that from today will be distributed by the parish priest Don Raffaele Rossi in the parish of San Clemente and, whoever wants, can request one by leaving a voluntary contribution that will be donated to a solidarity project that will serve to support the medical care of a local child hospitalized at the Geslini hospital in Genoa.

“A gesture of civility but also of kindness towards those less fortunate – explains Mayor Andrea Manzi – A tradition that has consolidated in recent years and that represents the tool to transmit, especially to young people, respect for the environment and animals. A gesture of culture that, I hope, can be a good omen for the entire community in the coming year”.
