Illegal extraction in a quarry in San Felice a Cancello, located in a protected natural area with landscape restrictions for inclusion in the Partenio Regional Park zoning. The facility has been seized. This morning, the Carabinieri Forestry Group of Caserta and the Carabinieri Forestry Station of Caserta, supported by those from the Carabinieri Forestry Stations of Marcianise, Piedimonte Matese, and Vairano Patenora, executed the seizure order issued by this Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere against the San Felice a Cancello limestone quarry, in the Polvica area, of the single-member company Cave Srl, against LN, 80, and NN, 52, respectively, sole director and de facto manager of the company in question. The seriousness of the offense was such that it was legally classified not only as the illegal disposal of hazardous waste on land, punishable by a misdemeanor, but also under the new criminal provision introduced in 2015, known as "Eco-crimes," and specifically under the heading of environmental pollution. At the same time, searches were conducted at the headquarters of the company Cave, which manages the limestone quarry, and at the offices of the inert waste recovery plant located in the Municipality of Marigliano (Naples), which supplied the materials used for the morphological restoration of the quarry site, as well as at the offices of the company in Baiano (Avellino), which provided the vehicles to transport the inert materials used for backfilling.
