Cava dei Tirreni. This morning, the Operations Section of the DIA of Salerno executed a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the Review Section of the Court of Salerno, on appeal pursuant to art. 310 of the Code of Criminal Procedure proposed by this DDA against Enrico Polichetti, former City Councilor and subsequently Deputy Mayor and Councilor of the Municipality of Cava de' Tirreni (SA), seriously suspected of political-mafia electoral exchange (art. 416 of the Code of Criminal Procedure), in relation to the electoral consultations for the renewal of the City Council of Cava de' Tirreni (SA), held in 2015.

Today's order, against which the defendant had appealed to the Supreme Court pursuant to art. 311 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, rejected on 17.12.2019/2015/XNUMX, arises from a complex investigative activity carried out by the DIA of Salerno, directed and coordinated by this DDA, which made it possible to acquire serious evidence of guilt against Polichetti accused of having obtained, thanks to the support of top members of the local Zullo clan, a significant electoral success, resulting in being the first elected, in the XNUMX administrative consultations for the renewal of the Municipal Council of Cava de' Tirreni.

The investigations also demonstrated the persistence of the ties that Polichetti maintained, despite his formal resignation from all public offices, with people directly connected to the Camorra group and with political-administrative exponents and employees of the local authority.
