An artistic and musical show of rare beauty, a concert full of emotions and energy.
Patients at the Pain Control Center Hospice in Solofra witnessed the extraordinary performance of the group
“Non Solo Gospel”, which gave moments of sweetness and spirituality in a climate of aggregation and common joy. Musical and singing magic masterfully enclosed in an intense and engaging show, through the unmistakable rhythms and harmonies of gospel sounds. And it was an unforgettable evening for the patients, their families, the medical team and all the staff.
The group “Non Solo Gospel” performed for free as part of the Christmas holiday initiatives promoted by the Cooperativa Lavoro per la Salute and the Casa di Cura Sant'Anna (which manage the facility's health services), and coordinated by sociologist Elena De Vinco.
The Hospice of Solofra, the residential center for palliative care and pain therapy of the ASL Avellino, the health company directed by Dr. Maria Morgante, hosts patients affected by progressive and advanced-stage diseases. It is a place where pain and suffering are fought not only through careful care
medical and health services, but also giving love and respect to those who are forced to fight against highly aggressive diseases on a daily basis. Appropriate assistance, comfort, artistic and recreational activities, professionalism and humanity: these are the emblems of absolute excellence that have characterized the Hospice in these
years.
“Non Solo Gospel” created a magical atmosphere that enchanted and emotionally involved the many people present. Highly appreciated by critics and now established in the national artistic scene, the group was born in 2005 from the idea of its historic director, Simona Guida. Over the years, the group has been enriched with new elements and today there are twenty choristers of high artistic and technical level who are part of it, voices followed by the vocal trainer and pianist Francesco Ruocco and a band of musicians who collaborate with nationally famous artists.
The awards obtained in recent years are of great prestige, including the first prize for best choir at the “Venice Gospel Festival” in 2007. There have also been numerous television appearances in the programs “Uno Mattina” and “La Vita in Diretta”, in addition to participating in 2008 in the film by Pasquale Falcone “Io non ci casco” with Maurizio Casagrande, Ornella Muti and Mariagrazia Cucinotta.
In September 2012 they participated in a radio program on Radio Crc Targato Italia. On October 16, 2013 their first Christmas album was released: “A Christmas Song for you”, on sale on a global digital platform.
They later released the Christmas single entitled “Natale Din Don Dan”, in which the great singer-songwriter Gino Paoli took part. In March 2014 they collaborated with the famous Solis String Quartet in the piece “Wujek” from the musical “Karol Wojtyla – The Opera Musical”. In July 2014 the choir won five awards at the “Gospel
Music Awards Italy 2014”: best Italian gospel choir, best album (A Christmas Song For You), best collaboration (with Gino Paoli), best song of the year (their original version of John Lennon’s “Imagine”) and best male voice (the baritone Giuseppe Peluso). In 2017 they are in the cast of Pasquale Falcone’s film “E se mi comprassi una sedia”, with Gianni Ferreri. In the same year the choir is part of the artistic cast of “Una Voce per Padre Pio” broadcast on Rai1, accompanying various artists including Sergio Sylvestre and Silvia Mezzanotte.
