"In these hours we are shuttling between the neighborhoods of Soccavo and Pianura hit by the strong gusts of wind that are sweeping the city. Here too we have reported damage and dangers to public safety due to the collapse of trees. In particular, collapses have been reported in the Traiano district and in via Cannavino, in the Pianura neighborhood. For months we have been asking the Municipality of Naples, the exclusive owner of the maintenance of tall trees, for decisive and decisive interventions on the many problems that we report day by day. We have the clear feeling that once again everything is left to chance and that, even for the management of emergency situations, there is a lack of general coordination capable of managing the challenge of climate change and, above all, capable of protecting the city and its citizens from the continuous risk caused by ineffective ordinary maintenance".
These are the statements of the president of the IX Municipality Lorenzo Giannalavigna who commented on the state of emergency that is affecting the neighborhoods of Soccavo and Pianura. The strong wind has knocked down some trees in the Traiano district - viale Traiano and viale Adriano - and has caused just as much damage in Pianura where, in via Cannavino, an enormous tree fell to the ground, obstructing traffic for several minutes.
