In recent days, at the Tre Ponti Est Service Area, on the A/30 Caserta / Salerno, in the municipality of San Vitaliano, a patrol from the Nola Highway Police Detachment, dependent on the Naples Highway Police Section, checked an articulated lorry with two men on board.
During the inspection of the vehicle, the police found, well hidden inside a metal box welded under the semi-trailer's bed, 28 cellophane wrappers containing banknotes of various denominations for a total of approximately 1.500.000,00 euros.
Furthermore, a folding knife with a 28 cm blade, 7 mobile phones and 1 tablet were seized on board the tractor.
At the end of the search, the two men attempted to escape, engaging in a fight with the officers who stopped them.
SR, 36 years old (with no criminal record) and FA, 48 years old (with multiple convictions), both of Calabrian origin, were arrested for receiving stolen goods, resisting arrest, contempt, personal injury and carrying weapons or objects capable of causing offence.
The police officers were given a prognosis of 5 and 2 days.
